Michael Steele, the former lieutenant governor of Maryland, has been appointed to the board of HarVest Bank.
The Rockville-based commercial bank, which opened in November 2004, had $129 million in assets as of Aug. 31. HarVest, focused on customers along the Interstate 270 corridor, has three branches in Bethesda, Germantown and Rockville. The bank plans to open a fourth branch in mid-2008.
"As we begin to accelerate our business growth, we anticipate that Michael's extensive contacts and knowledge of the government sector will be very valuable," said bank President and CEO Jack Hollerbach in a statement Wednesday.
